Best Password Cracking Techniques

Phishing Attack

No doubt ! Best password cracking and account hacking method of today. In this attack, Hacker send an email to his victim containing a link of fake page looks same like the original page, to trap victim and get username and passwords. Also, this method takes less time as compared to other methods. An easy way to hack.

Countermeasures :- Always check whether the website on which your going to login is trusted or not. Website url address should start with https rather than http only. Do not click on spam links.

Dictionary Attack

In this method, Hacker use a simple text file containing some commonly used passwords by other peoples. In other words, hackers use a software to try some commonly used passwords from a text file one by one. One of the reason that this method is not good is that, what if the password doesn't exist in the file. Then its not going to hack.

Countermeasure:- Always use a complex password, by complex passwords i mean, a password which is mixture of letter, symbols, number and alphabets.

Brute Force Attack

This method is same as dictionary attack method. But one of the main difference between them is that, this method do not use text file. This method try every possible combination of letters, symbols, special character, numbers and alphabets of any particular length until the real password comes. One of the most time consuming method from all of them.

Rainbow Table Attack

I don't know much about this method. This method use some pre computed hashes of many encrypted passwords from system. This takes less time than above two methods.

Social Engineering Attack

This attack doesn't performed from computer. In this method, Hacker try to get victim's password by physically approaching to victim. Hackers use some psychological hacks to trap the victim and get password. This method is also easy and quick, as it all depends upon the smartness of hacker.

Countermeasure:- Do not share your personal information with anyone.

This is why don't like password cracking techniques except Phishing Attack because it takes lots of valuable time and smart work to crack any password.
