So, in this post we will cover some basic concepts of networking which are most important. Actually in this post I will give you a terminology of computer networking.

Let’s start by looking at some definitions.

Computer Network: - When two or more computer connected to each other for many purposes like sharing hardware, internet, files etc. using cables or other resources to communicate with each other; it is called network.

Types of Computer Network:-
There are mainly two types of networks.
LAN: - Its full form is Local Area Network. When we connect computer devices and other peripherals in very limited geographical area like buildings and small colony of any city, it is called LAN.

WAN: - Its full form is Wide Area Network. When the network crosses limited geographical area and touches national boundaries or in other words, a computer which covers very wide broad area. Then it will be called WAN. One of the famous examples of WAN is Internet.

These are two main types of network; some other types of networks are also available like MAN which covers mainly a particular city area.

Types of Internet Connection:-

Broadband: - Remember guys when we use dial up connections, that provides low speed connection and we need to connect it many time to use it. Well, unlike Dial-Up connections Broadband connections provide high speed internet connections that allow data transmissions at high speed. There are many types of broadband connections like digital subscriber line, fibers, cables, wireless broadband connections etc.

Wi-Fi: - Stands for Wireless Fidelity, According to me the most advanced technology of today. It allows devices wirelessly to connect with internet.  This type of connection can be extremely fast in some cases reaching over 100mbps.

These are the most used types of internet connections now days, There are also some other type like WiMAX.

Client-Server: -
Let’s understand this with an example. While using internet your request sent to other computer who processes your request and then gives back the results to you. So in this scenario you are client and the computer who is giving you the results back as web pages is server.

Client is the computer who send request for anything on internet while using it. And server is the computer who sent you the web pages back. This is also called Client-Server model.

In our next post we will learn some more networking terms. So keep reading my blog and don’t forget to share.
